Positive Solutions to a Linearly Perturbed Critical Growth Biharmonic Problem
Existence and nonexistence results for positive solutions to a linearly perturbed critical growth biharmonic problem under Steklov boundary conditions, are determined. Furthermore, by investigating the critical dimensions for this problem, a Sobolev inequality with remainder terms, of both interior and boundary type, is deduced.
متن کاملLight deflection in perturbed Friedmann universes.
In this letter a new formula for light deflection is derived using only physically observable concepts. The general result is specialized to cosmological perturbation theory and expressed in terms of gauge–invariant perturbation variables. The resulting scalar, vector and tensor equations are supplemented by simple examples for illustration. The gravity wave example may be of more than academic...
متن کاملDepolarization of backscattered linearly polarized light.
We formulate a quantitative description of backscattered linearly polarized light with an extended photon diffusion formalism taking explicitly into account the scattering anisotropy parameter g of the medium. From diffusing wave spectroscopy measurements, the characteristic depolarization length for linearly polarized light, lp , is deduced. We investigate the dependence of this length on the ...
متن کاملEfficient Learning in Linearly Solvable MDP Models
Linearly solvable Markov Decision Process (MDP) models are a powerful subclass of problems with a simple structure that allow the policy to be written directly in terms of the uncontrolled (passive) dynamics of the environment and the goals of the agent. However, there have been no learning algorithms for this class of models. In this research, we develop a robust learning approach to linearly ...
متن کاملPropagation of solitons in a randomly perturbed Ablowitz-Ladik chain.
This paper deals with the transmission of a soliton in a discrete, nonlinear, and random medium. A random lattice nonlinear Schrödinger equation is considered, where the randomness holds in the on-site potential or in the coupling coefficients. We study the interplay of nonlinearity, randomness, and discreteness. We derive effective evolution equations for the soliton parameters by applying a p...
